We can all agree it is way too soon for Christmas songs and even the craft stores are pushing it with their corner displays of Santa Claus’s and stocking material (we give them a break, crafters are early birds on all
holidays) but this is the perfect time to start thinking about seasonal employment. Whether you have been searching for a job for months and just need some cash to get by, just got into a job but would like to buff up your savings or even if you have been working away and just want to save up for a vacation, seasonal employment is a great opportunity.
Most seasonal jobs will be in retail. Many of us haven’t taken a position behind the cash register since college, but similar to riding a bike, it is a skill you won’t forget. Retail also offers the advantage of having plenty of shifts open in the evenings and weekend meaning you days are still free for career hunting or a full time job. The pay might not seem like much at first but with 20 hours of work it will add up fast.
Besides retail, delivery driving, cafes, coffee shops and more are all going to be in need of an extra set of hands. Catering companies are a perfect place to look for seasonal work as well as food establishments in malls and other shopping centers which are bound to see an influx of customers. Just a quick walk through Bellevue Mall, Pacific Place, Alderwood Mall or any other in the Seattle with a resume and you are almost sure to land a part time gig and start saving.
For jolly folk and shorter people this is definitely the time of year where people need Santas and elves.
