According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle is (or will be) among the top retail markets for the year 2011. The information was gathered by Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services in Phoenix and the Seattle area is currently in the number 10 spot. 

Seattle is expected to add jobs, some 36,000 in the coming year and these jobs are expected to both be in - and be supported by - the retail market.
